I have been going to many many problems with Windows. I have been using windows since v3. 1. Lets just say that I have grown to Hate windows. I am wondering if it is even worth my time to install Mandrake Linux.

Hello, I'm new to linux and am trying to setup mythtv on a system. One of the instructions is to change the default on boot from default=1 to default = 0 I have been trying to edit this in the terminal but keep coming up with this result: # /boot/grub/grub.

Every day or every other day, we can download a new database file for the cleaner. But once we have downloaded it, what do we do with it? Do we replace a file in the program folder? Thank you. .

Canon S200 printer driver

I've got my S200 printer to work perfectly in Mdk 9. 2 by using Gimp-print-4. 2. 6-pre2. But first I had to uninstall the Gimp-print packages that came with Mdk. I used kprinter to set it up. In my opinion it works every bit as good as the Windoze driver.

Can't connect to the internet

I've set up Mandrake 9. 2 Download Version on my PC but I can't seem to connect to the internet (broadband). I am pretty sure it is an error on my part filling in incorrect information in the internet configuration (I can connect on my Windows XP machine using the same broadband modem).

IF Statements within an FTP Session

Good Afternoon Ladies & Gents. Is it possible to write a script that opens up a ftp session and then use ' if and for loops '. ie. ftp -n -i xxx. xxx. xxx. xxx <<EOF user username password binary if then echo FILE FOUND else echo FILE NOT FOUND ; fi ???????? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When installing Gentoo from LiveCD, after a few (many) hours of messing up the system, whole thing stops to installing Grub. Even compiling kernel goes fine, but grub dont work: #grub **blaa blaa, dont remember** *- Illegal function ** #grub-install /dev/hde (or '(fd0)' ) Probing disks.

Since they are dropping support for Win98 im going to suggest that my girlfriend's mother switch to linux(because its free!). Hardware support won't be a problem since her computer is more than 4 years old.
