Why Mandrake 9.1 gets an "A"

TrakerJon
I've installed a lot of different distributions over the years, some good and some quite frustrating. My favorites have been Mandrake, Debian, SuSe and Red Hat. The latest release of Mandrake though really does stand out from the pack.

64Bit Time!!!

CyberGenX
What are some of your feelings on AMD's new 64Bit Line up, and their soon to be release 64bit Desktop lineup. My Op. is the AMD has made a nice price margin for 64bit solutions and they also offer backward 32bit compatibility.

Motherboard Recommendations

LameDuck
Whats every one recommend for an extremely stable board? I'm having trouble finding any good reviews. One review says this board is good and another says it sucks. I just want a very stable board for my AMD 2500 chip.

Microsoft USB Optical Mouse in Red Hat 8.0

xiuquan
I have a Sony Vaio FX150 laptop. I just got a Microsoft Optical USB mouse (with wheel), but it won't work in Linux. It works very well in Windows 2000. When my machine boots up, the light under the mouse turns on until it gets to the point where it says Initializing USB Subsystem or something like that.

Sound Package

ViolentGreen
This is really great, especially for all of us who share a computer with a female. John Madden Sounds! I heard this guy on Bob and Tom a few days ago. If you don't want to install them, at least download the individual sounds.

Here's what I need to know. On a Proliant ML-530, running Redhat 7. 3 Kernel 2. 4. 18: How well would transferring files to an external firewire Hard drive work. I know the speed would be there, but what about size limitations? Can I get above the 2 GB limit? Would it simply be a matter of installing a firewire ada ...

emachines M5305 Laptop

dlieberm
I recently purchased an emachines M5305 laptop. Works fine with Windows XP. I have been unable to install Red Hat 9 or Lindows 3. 0. The unit has a new ATI IGP 320M video card. This card allows for an external monitor to be added simultaneously with the laptop screen.

Unexplained SATA crashes

korinel
Has anyone been having problems with unexplained serial ATA crashes. I have recently aquired two serial ATA drives and every so often the system seems to freeze. This appears to be linked to heavy serial ATA usage, usually during transfer from my old (reliable) 3ware parallel ATA Raid-5 array, typically after betwe ...

Building a new pc

DS3Circuit
Ok, well I am biting the bullet and building a new PC. . . . I blame APK for posting that DOOM3 movie clip and being the final straw in my decision JK I used to be up on the pc hardware, but as of recently, I have lost touch with that aspect of the business.
