configuring CD RW

Greetings Can anyone assist me, a totally green user, to get my Mandrake 9. 0 to recognise my CD RW? Its an LG brand GCE-8160B, which is listed as ompatible My other CD ROM is being read, but not my CD Burner.

Can't play UT online

I've just installed UT (not 2003) on my RedHat 8. 0. The game works fine in singleplayer, but I can't get online! WHILE I'm typing the serveraddress (while typing, so I can't even TRY to connect) or WHILE downloading a list of servers the game freezes and I have to reset my computer.

Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to get multi-PCM channel sound from a Santa Cruz / Sonic Fury sound card? This site says tis possible: I downloaded the drivers and followed the instructions given in their, however there was nothing specific on how to set it up to play more than one sound at once.

Compaq 900z laptop

Hey, I just got this laptop, a Compaq 900z, because it was on sale at the local store. However, every attempt to install Linux fails in some way. Mandrake 8. 1 fails because of hard drive, w/ the following error : check_for_bad_disks : Can't even read! (I/O error) From which i cannot move on.

Problem with updfstab and kudzu

Hi all, I have recently installed RH 8 and after rebooting system hangs at Up /etc/fstab I have tried with single user mode and then tried updfstab -n and updfstab -t Both the commands completed successfully.

i want to install mandrake 9. 0 (im a lamer in unix) can i get the following hardware to work with it? -Alcatel Speed Touch USB -Canoscan 656U -HP photosmart P1000 -Riva 128 AGP. . but it doent matter if the games work just 32 bit and 1152x864 resolution for my Viewsonic PF790 monitor i guess i need drivers for unix.

Using 2 HD as raid with a backup drive

Hi, I want to use 2 30 GB hard drive in a raid 0 and a 60 GB hard drive (possibly removable) in one system and I was wondering if that is possible. I'll be using the 60 GB HD as a backup drive so that I can take it from computer to computer.
