Ubuntu and ASUS launching affordale laptops in the US

From Muktware:
Falling PC sales across the world has not deterred Canonical. After striking deals with major OEM brands such as Dell and HP, to sell Ubuntu branded laptops in emerging markets like India, China and Mexico, Canonical announced yesterday that they have partnered with OEM major ASUS to sell high quality yet affordable laptops in the United States. This is the third announcement of a partnership with a major OEM brand this year. Canonical is slowly but surely increasing its partnerships with major OEM brands.

Canonical says these laptops are “world-class” and are perfect for education indicating this time the target will be students and educational institutions. The two models are currently available to buy directly from Amazon. The two models on sale are X201E and the 1015E. While the first one, X201E, seems to be out of stock at the moment, 1015E , which has a smaller screen size of the two and a price tag of only $199 is available for purchase. Interestingly, Amazon doesn’t know when X201E will be available next . From the Amazon webpage – “We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock. ”
