When Mephisto spokes to me, he said: HSP56 is fully compatible !! Look For smldmd driver 2.7 (Kernel 2.4 series) or smldmd last driver "2.9.9" (kernel 2.6 series). In a few weeks I will made a web page to help you with HSP56 compatibility issue.
Be free- Be Linux People, it`s working now in my Mandrake 10 (2.6 Kernel) !! I made this too in my old Mandrake 9.1
