It's impossible to get Linux to work on the HPT372 if you have no prior knowledge Linux knowledge. Windows installs very easily. Perhaps future kernels fix this problem.

It works fine under the 2.6.2 kernel... In 2.4.22, it works rather well... as long as the kernel has support compiled in for it... no prior linux knowledge must mean something like using Mandrake 9.0/9.1, or red had linux 9... Those two have issues with their stock kernels and the HPT372's...

Err, There isn't suppossed to be support for ataraid in 2.6.x yet. IIRC it is being rewritten.
