GNOME 2.23.6 Development Release has been released

FREEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZEEE! That's it. We're feature frozen now. This means what you have in 2.23.6 is a good approximation of what you'll get in 2.24.0. So it's a good time to start listing all the new major features on the release notes on this page:

Oh, and 2.23.6 also introduces for the first time empathy and the hamster applet as official GNOME modules. Great new stuff that everybody should play with!

You all know what you have to do now. Go download it. Go compile it. Go test it. And go hack on it, document it, translate it, fix it.

To compile GNOME 2.23.6, you can use GARNOME (which supports users and has additional/different modules available), or the jhbuild modulesets (which use the exact tarball versions from the official
release):

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
--------------------------

This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is buildable and usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking purposes. GNOME uses odd minor version numbers to indicate development status.
