Zen Browser 1.19.6b release fixes critical UI bugs and performance issues
The latest update addresses several UI glitches that frustrated long-time users who rely on the interface for daily work. This version prioritizes stability over flashy new features, fixing issues with compact mode toggles and notification clicks. Users on lower-end hardware might notice a difference in how videos play during the session.
Zen Browser handles animations better now
The development team finally listened to requests regarding system accessibility settings within the browser. Zen now respects more reduce motion system settings to disable or simplify non essential animations for those who need it. This change also solves a blocking issue where switching spaces would freeze while the current one finished animating. It is a small improvement but prevents the frustration of waiting on a frozen interface when trying to jump between tasks.
Search bar changes and tab management updates
Compatibility issues forced a reversion to Firefox's old search bar because the new design broke functionality. It takes guts to admit a feature needs rolling back but users will appreciate not losing their workflow during critical moments. Context menu actions for split tabs have also been renamed to Join tabs to be more intuitive for casual users. Other fixes include correcting unreadable text colors in certain themes and stopping pinned tabs from scrolling back to their original position upon restoration.
