Zen Browser 1.18.2b released
A new version of the Zen Browser has been released, bumping things up to 1.18.2b. This isn't just maintenance; there are some important changes.
Security is top-of-mind for this release. One thing fixed was a moderate-severity issue with the Anti-Tracking component; folks might remember CVE-2026-24868 spotted by Masato Kinugawa way back in Bug 2007302. And there's a more serious fix: Hiroyuki Ikezoe found and closed down a high-severity use-after-free flaw affecting the Scrolling and Overflow part, covered under CVE-2026-24869 (Bug 2008698).
Beyond just security patches, it looks like the browser has also refreshed its features. This latest build is riding on Firefox version 147.0.2 thanks to an updated Gecko engine integration. So users get a bit of that Firefox goodness.
Tab management saw some tweaking too. There's now a new option: close tabs next to the most recently used one. It’s a small thing, but it adds flexibility for how people organize their workspaces and switch between tasks more efficiently sometimes.
The list of bug fixes keeps growing. Things like annoying blank windows popping up when launching or manipulating tabs are gone. Also addressed is that intermittent weirdness where browser features would randomly vanish; hopefully this makes things feel smoother overall.
And finally, the good news about pinned tabs at startup has been resolved. It seems a long-standing gripe for some users is now looking settled. Alongside this, there are other minor touches improving window behavior and system integration, like data migration paths or syncing routines that likely go unnoticed but help keep everything playing nice together.
