Zen Browser 1.17.13b released
A new version of Zen Browser has been released, bringing with it a range of security updates and some notable feature additions.
Speaking of security, that was a big focus this time around. The main thing is nailing down those high-impact bugs. There are several notable fixes here: One patch addresses CVE-2025-14321, which fixed a use-after-free issue in WebRTC Signaling. Another mitigation for CVE-2025-14322 tackles a sandbox escape problem stemming from incorrect boundaries in the Graphics CanvasWebGL part.
It's not just those two, though. The developers also plugged up other holes like potential JIT miscompilations and some more use-after-free bugs, plus fixed issues related to privilege escalation and same-origin policy bypasses.
Now, beyond security, there are some actual feature additions worth mentioning. Linux users on Wayland now have immediate support for fractionally scaled displays. This should lead to smoother rendering in certain scenarios.
MacOS folks also benefit from a change: by default, a dedicated GPU process is enabled. This helps keep things stable; if something goes wrong with graphics code, the browser won't crash catastrophically anymore; it can often recover smoothly without showing an error screen.
Elsewhere, they updated our core engine to align with Firefox 146.0 and included some minor performance boosts alongside other bug fixes for smoother general operation.
And a smaller update: theme customization gets more options now. You can pick monochrome themes or tweak the color algorithm used in the theme picker, giving you finer control over how your browser looks.
