Wine 11.0 Release Candidate 3 released
There's a new release candidate out for Wine 11.0, which is now available for download from WineHQ. It marks the third release candidate ahead of this upcoming major point update, Wine 11.0. This specific milestone prioritizes bug fixes over the introduction of new features. With code freeze effectively in place, the main goal here is to resolve various issues reported by users trying out the software.

The source code for this version can be obtained from their official website. Binary packages supporting different distributions are expected shortly on their dedicated download sites. For anyone just starting out with Wine, documentation is straightforward to find online via the WineHQ GitLab page.
This release specifically tackles a total of 17 user-reported problems. Notable fixes include resolving an issue where the DirectX 8.1 SDK installation failed because of an MSI custom action failure and another bug that caused commands containing special symbols to get cut off during execution.
It also improves things like rendering issues in Burnout Paradise and addresses a VRChat sound output problem that would occur right after video playback finished. These are just some examples; the release candidate covers more ground than these specific items suggest.
Since the last release candidate, 11.0-rc2, several other changes have been integrated too. Alexandre Julliard put in countless hours delivering numerous bug fixes and performance improvements across almost all parts of Wine's codebase. His contributions are often essential for moving things forward. People like Bernhard Übelacker, Brendan Shanks, Byeong-Sik Jeon, Elizabeth Figura, Eric Pouech, Hans Leidekker, Jactry Zeng, Matteo Bruni, Paul Gofman, Rémi Bernon, and Stefan Dösinger have also been busy adding their fixes and tweaks to help make the software more stable.
So, while this release is primarily about bug patches now, it builds on earlier improvements. The Wine development team keeps working away diligently towards getting the final version ready.
