Samba 4.21.10 released
The new Samba 4.21.10 update is finally out. It comes as the culmination of work on this series, bringing improvements and bug fixes for users.
So what's changed? One key thing addresses an issue with ctdbd crashing during failed 'updateip' operations; that problem no longer happens, which should boost system reliability a bit.
But here's something cool too: previously, if multiple Active Directory Controllers (DCs) were returned, Samba 4.21 couldn't join the domain. The dev team has now fixed this independently, and interestingly, two separate contributors worked out the solution around the same time.
Another tweak involves 'vfs_ceph_new.' They've adjusted the code so it doesn't use specific non-blocking reads/writes during certain 'fsync_send' tasks anymore. This change helps improve system stability and performance, especially with Ceph setups.
And regarding CTDB_SOCKET usage? The team has made progress ensuring this feature works even when test mode isn't enabled, making it more flexible for everyone involved.
Overall, the Samba development crew keeps pushing ahead on a platform that already does so much heavy lifting. This latest version just adds another layer of reliability and usability refinement to those SMB and Active Directory setups.
