Proton 10.0-3 released
Proton 10.0-3 is Valve Software’s latest compatibility tool update for Steam Play. This update significantly enhances how games can run on platforms apart from Windows by building upon Wine and various supplementary components.
One major outcome of this update is adding support to previously incompatible titles. Notably playable now are Mary Skelter: Nightmares, Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force, Far Horizon, Grim Fandango Remastered (now compatible with both AMD and Intel graphics cards), The Crew Motorfest, Viking Rise: Valhalla, Starlight Re:Volver, Gemstones, Act of War: Direct Action (with support for AMD GPUs), SSR Wives: The Murder Of My Winter Crush Demo, Firefly Village, The Riftbreaker: Multiplayer Playtest, Ninja Reflex: Steamworks Edition, Arken Age, and more. This list shows the diversity of games that are now accessible.
Beyond adding new titles, Proton 10.0-3 tackles existing issues with several key fixes. Agony UNRATED is updated to handle problems stemming from OpenSSL on newer Intel processors better. Similarly, The Quarry resolves playability troubles encountered earlier on OLED Steam Decks. For DayZ users, the ability to utilize mods without errors has been restored.
The update also contains various smaller bug fixes across different games. This includes restoring audio in the intro video for Dakka Squadron - Flyboyz Edition, Warhammer 40K, and fixing spurious touchpad clicks on DualSense controllers over Bluetooth. VRChat's AVPro player compatibility sees improvements with better distortion handling, smoother seeking, and performance gains.
Compatibility details include fixes like restored keybindings for Hunt: Showdown users employing the Programmer Dvorak layout. METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN no longer crackles during cutscenes on Steam Deck setups. Diablo 4 now supports screen readers (though the update requires a separate download of Proton Voice Files). Other affected games include The Finals, Doom Eternal, Rocket League, Unreal Tournament 3, Deadlock, Dune: Awakening, Black Squad, God of War: Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village, Disgaea PC, Dungeon Lords Steam Edition, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Tales of Berseria, Sea Power, VR Slots 3D, Teardown, Motor Town: Behind the Wheel, Age of Empires III, Counter-Strike, Alone in the Dark (2008), DiRT, Disney Universe, Hard Truck Apocalypse: Rise of Clans / Ex Machina: Meridian 113, Dino D-Day, and Prototype 2.
Addressing regressions from earlier versions is another important part. Quake IV and DOOM 3 should no longer face mouse input issues when running in full-screen mode. Marvin's Mittens now correctly sets up on the first launch again, and the keyboard remains unaffected by controller interference inside. Video-related fixes are also included; for example, Crashlands 2’s intro video distortion is corrected.
Performance enhancements benefit users across Steam Deck and PC with various updates to components like dxvk, vkd3d-proton, dxvk-novapi, and vkd3d, improving efficiency for games such as Rocket League and Unreal Tournament 3.
