LXQt updates bring icon fixes and panel tweaks for desktop users
The LXQt team has released new point versions of lxqt-config 2.3.2 and lxqt-panel 2.3.3 to address some persistent bugs that have been annoying power users recently. These LXQt updates focus on stability for the configuration tools and the main panel interface to ensure smoother daily operation. Users running Wayland or recent Qt versions will notice immediate improvements in workflow reliability without needing to hunt down patches elsewhere.
Icon theme parsing finally works with Qt6
The config tool previously choked when dealing with icon themes under specific Qt6.11 conditions where strict parsing logic was too aggressive for some setups. This issue often resulted in empty settings pages where users expected to see their custom selection after applying a new look. The fix ensures that desktop appearance choices stick without requiring manual edits or command line overrides to recover lost preferences. It is frustrating enough when an update wipes out a working configuration just because of version checking logic inside the library.
Panel filtering and Wayland compatibility get attention
The panel now prioritizes starting strings for titles within the Fancy Menu filtering system which makes finding applications faster when typing out names rather than guessing exact matches. Shortcut selectors remain disabled on Wayland sessions to prevent input conflicts with compositor behaviors that handle global shortcuts differently. Tooltips now display opacity values clearly so users do not guess how transparent a window becomes during testing or customization attempts. Auto-hiding features also behave correctly when dragging over task managers or show desktop areas where previous versions would get stuck in a loop.
Under the hood changes for labwc and Qt versions
Developers removed obsolete version checks for Qt5 since support has largely shifted forward to newer branches that require updated code paths. Keyboard interactivity settings now apply to labwm instances running on newer servers like labwc 0.9.4 without triggering fallback modes unnecessarily. Translations have been updated across the board alongside general code cleanup to keep the package lean and maintainable for future development cycles. These behind-the-scenes improvements help prevent regressions that often appear after major component updates in the Qt ecosystem.
