Heroic Games Launcher 2.19.0 released
Heroic Games Launcher 2.19.0 "Punk-01 Shaka" has shipped, introducing some useful tweaks and platform enhancements. It might feel like just another step forward on a longer journey as development teams focus on upcoming significant changes too.
For Linux players, there's an exciting new development: experimental support for Zoom platform games is now integrated into the launcher, even though this feature currently only appears on that operating system. But the team says they're aiming to bring it everywhere else down the line.
On macOS, performance gains are possible thanks to added DXMT support. This could mean smoother runs and better overall gameplay. The release also brings a dedicated Launch Options setting for games using DXMT, which is handy if you have specific preferences or setups.
Improvements elsewhere include an 'Import' button on the game page itself, simplifying finding your titles within the launcher interface.
Things are getting fixed as well: macOS users no longer see the broken Steam install option inside Heroic Games Launcher. The team is actively looking into ways to automate that process properly from here on out.
To declutter things a bit, some options have been removed or renamed for clarity, reflecting how Linux and macOS users interact with it these days. And gamepad navigation should be smoother now across all platforms as the experience gets refined.
Linux folks can expect an initial feature in this version: basic support for AppImage auto-update. This means handling updates might feel simpler than before. On Windows, both the setup and portable versions have gained certificate signatures, a small security boost confirming their authenticity.
Underneath everything else, core tech upgrades happened too: Electron got updated to 39, while fixes rolled out for GOGDL and Legendary helped address bugs around game lists and updating them properly.
So, this isn't the biggest overhaul you'll see anytime soon. It's a collection of useful adjustments across different setups, though, definitely something worth noting if you use these features or care about the launcher itself.

It is being a wild 5 months since the last Heroic release in August and some people thought the project was dying but far from it, we never had received so many code contributions as in recent months from people fixing bugs or implementing new features.
