Goverlay has been updated to version 1.7.0, bringing several new features and improvements to streamline your gaming setup. The update includes automatic environment variable enabling, improved integration with FGMod scripts, and a dedicated "Proton Tweaks Tab" for handling settings like HDR support and Wayland settings in one click. Additionally, OptiScaler has been enhanced with an FP8 emulation toggle switch for RDNA3 GPUs, and the software now handles situations where OptiScaler isn't available more smoothly. The update also includes various usability improvements, such as a reworked UI, GPU detection enhancements, and easier launch option sharing.

Goverlay 1.7.0 released

The latest Goverlay release (version 1.7.0) has finally arrived with some solid new features focused on improving your gaming setup right away.

You know how sometimes you wish there was an easier way to manage those environment variables for games? This update brings along the option to automatically enable things, which is a welcome change built using FGMod tech and directly replaces the old Global Enable feature that wasn't working out so well.

The core of Goverlay now plays nicely with FGMod scripts, making things smoother for users running both Native and Flatpak versions. A big part is also a new section in the interface called "Proton Tweaks Tab." This dedicated space makes handling environment variables really straightforward; you can enable HDR support or GameMode and manage Wayland settings, so everything just needs one click.

There's even specific help for older hardware: this same tab includes Radeon RT emulation. Plus, you have full control over custom environment variables if that level of detail suits your game setup.

Elsewhere, OptiScaler has been touched up too.  It now offers a toggle switch specifically for FP8 emulation aimed at RDNA3 GPUs, giving users an extra option to play with as needed. And the software handles situations where OptiScaler isn't available a bit better than before, resulting in a more seamless launch overall.

Finally, on the general usability side, there's been some fixing up related to vkBasalt toggle keys and Flatpak sandbox paths, hopefully ironing out some previous headaches for those setups. GPU detection is now reportedly more reliable.

Visually, things look cleaner inside Goverlay thanks to a reworked UI that avoids hardcoded colors seen in older versions. There's also a new field where you can see and easily copy/paste launch options from within the program itself, making sharing or remembering those settings less of a chore.
