Goverlay 1.6.2 released

A significant update has been released for Goverlay 1.6.2, a user-friendly interface that simplifies configuration of popular gaming overlays like MangoHud, vkBasalt, and OptiScaler. This update brings several notable changes.

For starters, Flatpak support is now properly integrated into the release process itself, something built directly alongside Goverlay instead of waiting for a separate beta package on Flathub to appear. New with 1.6.2: It now works via Flatpak. The app leverages D-Bus notifications, which should help keep users informed in sandboxed environments. There are still tweaks planned before the official Flathub debut.

The core functionality also sees upgrades. MangoHud support is better, covering version 0.8.2 with new features like CPU efficiency control and GPU power limits. The parser handles this more recent version correctly now. Goverlay has ditched old references to deprecated FGType settings.

OptiScaler compatibility extends up to version 0.9, too. A big improvement here is a new ShortcutKey selector; assigning keys feels less cumbersome than before. Alongside the core app update comes smoother handling of Flatpak sandboxing and improved error messages for things like file validation, definitely something that should help users figure out what's going wrong.

FGMOD support remains strong, offering guides specifically for Steam or Heroic games users via FGMOD integration. And internally? The whole theming engine has been overhauled. It now features a proper Light/Dark theme toggle and considers custom colors when choosing system themes, which should make the look smoother overall with better contrast in text fields.

Beyond these visible upgrades, there's plenty happening under the hood for users who care about that stuff. The code got a major refactoring, along with updated dependencies (Qt, Lazarus, Git). The documentation expanded to include new guides on FLATPAK.md and THEME_SYSTEM.md, plus tips for icons.

Even deployment is smoother now thanks to automatic Flatpak builds using GitHub Actions whenever a tag is pushed, which helps ensure bundles are tested properly before release. This all points to Goverlay becoming more robust and user-friendly than ever with 1.6.2.
