Godot 4.6 Beta 2 released
Godot 4.6 beta 2 is here, representing the latest iteration in this engine's development journey. The update brings various improvements addressing issues from previous betas.
Key focus areas include tackling regression fixes and refining user experience elements like the editor interface. Buttons have been disabled for certain multi-node operations to improve usability, and shader editor window sizing has been resolved.
There are also several GUI-related enhancements, notably a text editor scrolling fix that works better with specific vertical screen setups. Platform-specific upgrades follow too, including an automatic performance boost activation for iOS projects employing the forward/mobile renderer approach.
Significant rendering updates involve how motion vectors are handled internally now; they're split across uniforms to prevent crashes on Adreno GPUs in some cases. As always, behind-the-scenes work on libraries and tools is included in this update: minimp3 has been swapped out for dr_mp3 as the audio decoder, and SDL was updated to version 3.2.28.
Translators working with Weblate will have new strings from this iteration synced up so they can be translated effectively. If you're interested in a broader look at what went into Godot 4.6 generally or want specifics about beta 2, the full release notes are definitely worth checking out again now that the second beta is available.
