GNOME 48.5 is now available, providing a stable and safe upgrade from earlier versions of GNOME 48. This release includes various module upgrades, such as improvements to at-spi2-core, decibels, glycin, and gnome-shell, addressing memory leaks, layout issues, and other bugs. Additionally, gvfs and libpanel have been updated to resolve various issues related to folder enumeration cancellation, socket-activated services, file rename support, and toggle button behavior. 



GNOME 48.5 is now available for all operating systems that ship GNOME 48. This release focuses on providing a stable and safe upgrade from earlier versions of GNOME 48.

  • json-glib featuring a missing escape addition and static build fixes
  • libadwaita (1.7.6 => 1.7.7) with improvements in AdwAlertDialog/AdwMessageDialog behavior, memory leaks, and translation updates
  • libpanel (1.10.0 => 1.10.2) allowing toggle buttons to autodiscover PanelDock and fixing incorrect CSS styling of bottom corner buttons
  • libspelling (0.4.8 => 0.4.9) with bug fixes, improved discovery of no-spell-check tags, and translation updates
  • mutter (48.4 => 48.5) addressing fd leaks during screencasting, reading and updating the privacy screen property, and viewport updates after virtual monitor size changes
  • nautilus (48.3 => 48.4.1) featuring bug fixes for moving starred files, thumbnail cancelling, and hidden state of edited files
  • sysprof (48.0 => 48.1) with improvements in mapped ring buffer handling, perf communication, and command line options.

These upgrades and bug fixes ensure a more stable and secure experience for GNOME users.
