GE-Proton10-27 released

GloriousEggroll has dropped GE-Proton10-27, an update focused on improving its Proton compatibility layer. The primary enhancement is a recent update to Wine, which includes a transition to the most advanced version.

Alongside upgrading Wine, they've also updated DXVK and related projects like DXVK-NVAPI to their newest git versions. Then there's vkd3d-proton itself, which has been refreshed with the latest upstream vkd3d commits.

Beyond these main upgrades, several patches were integrated or adjusted for GE-Proton10-27. Key among them are updates to winewayland and em-10 that aim to improve Wayland support integration. The team also brought Wine staging up-to-date again for better compatibility with system changes.

One noteworthy addition is a new status window you can now see when Proton fixes run, offering slightly more visibility into what's happening behind the scenes during these operations.

The update bundles some game-specific tweaks too. An added fix allows Heroes of Newerth Reborn players to play with their GAMEID value once again. Star Citizen protonfixes have also been given a recent boost, likely helping its famously demanding compatibility.

Elsewhere, fixes landed for games like Angelic Chaos: RE-BOOT!, Rocket League's in-game voice chat, and Sword of the Stars. A workaround was put into place for The First Descendant to combat game disconnections mid-action. And there's a winetricks patch now disabling Xalia during .NET install sequences.

On the flip side, some existing fixes needed an update; checkers like Space Engineers and FMD Muramasa have new supported versions ready. Escape from Tarkov received both a Proton fix and an EAC workaround; while it’s playable via Proton, online co-op is still out of the question here. A handful of users needing to run non-Steam forks probably won't be far behind with NOSTEAM=1 added either.

While most things are looking good, one known issue remains: Blade & Soul NEO refuses to launch, a problem that mirrors what's happening in upstream Proton-experimental as well.
