GloriousEggroll has released GE-Proton10-19 and GE-Proton10-20 to address several issues that arose after the last update. These new releases include significant hot fixes for problems such as a bug in the build patch script and an issue with applying patches, which have been resolved. The updates also undo previous commits that accidentally broke Warhammer Darktide's launcher and restore functionality for certain games, including Girls Frontline 2: Exilium and Forza Horizon 5. Unfortunately, WebView2 patches were removed due to causing problems, particularly for the Haoplay version of Girls Frontline 2: Exilium, which remains broken despite upstream Wine developers' rejections.

GE-Proton10-20 released

With the release of GE-Proton10-19 and GE-Proton10-20, GloriousEggroll has made a lot of progress in fixing problems that came up after the last update. These new releases include significant hot fixes that address several issues.

One of these crucial fixes involves resolving a bug in the build patch script, which was preventing the correct or complete application of patches. Additionally, a quartz patch has been added so that people can watch the opening movie in Clannad. However, this fix is still untested and is part of issue #283. The update also undoes some previous commits for em-10, which had accidentally broken Warhammer Darktide's launcher. In particular, commits 582a46656d04cbefd4eb60b9eda9d263315377d5 and c771b8b6f01c2f3b1f88cf1ceb0ed8802a79e98a have been undone to bring back functionality.

Also, an extra WebView2 patch that was causing problems with the Forza Horizon 5 login prompt not opening has been taken out. Also, a fix has been put in place so that the Darkwinter Software region version of Girls Frontline 2: Exilium works correctly.

For WebView2 patches, it's important to remember that Wine 9 added an initial stub that fixed problems with installing WebView2 for both Vermintide 2 and the Haoplay version of Girls Frontline 2: Exilium. This patch, on the other hand, wasn't enough because the Haoplay version needs more features from Wine to work properly, and it is still broken.

Despite suggestions for additional WebView2 patches to address these issues, the upstream Wine developers ultimately rejected them. Sadly, adding them to GE-Proton caused more problems, like breaking the login prompt for Forza Horizon 5. Because of this, these extra patches have been taken away, which has made both FH5 and the Darkwinter Software version of Girls Frontline 2: Exilium work better.

One important thing to remember is that the Haoplay and Darkwinter software versions only differ in the regions they cover. Haoplay is available in most European countries and regions, as well as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Darkwinter software, on the other hand, is only available in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
