Devuan 6.1.0 Excalibur released
Devuan GNU+Linux 6.1.0 Excalibur has been updated with new ISOs available from mirrors around the world. This version brings the software current with updates also seen upstream in Debian 13.2 and includes some important fixes along the way.
One of those fixes tackles a persistent problem with setting up speech synthesis; it should be working again properly now. There were also issues with the slim login manager addressed; specifically, bug reports 857 and 927 on the Devuan tracker detail these fixes if you're curious.
If you're building an Excalibur system for your Raspberry Pi, those community-compiled images are also available from arm-files.devuan.org.
For upgrading an existing install or migrating from Debian, help is there. There's online documentation to walk you through things. You can grab the ISOs using several methods: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, or rsync mirrors listed on devuan.org/get-devuan#https-mirrors. Or you might prefer the torrent file option found there as well.
Beyond the official releases, the Devuan community also shares ARM and virtual machine images. These aren't part of the main release stream, but users are encouraged to build their own customized ARM images for specific hardware setups. That helps expand image diversity generally while keeping the core release schedule manageable. Information on building these is online at devuan.org/os/distro-kit.
