Bazaar 0.7.3 released

Bazaar has rolled out a new version packed with various improvements and bug fixes designed to improve the app. One thing that stands out is how deleted user data is handled now; instead of going straight away, it gets moved to the trash first. This makes recovery much easier if something goes wrong down the line.

Another change relates to permissions in the dialog. It's been updated so users have a clearer view of what information specific apps need on their devices. Simultaneously, there was an issue with EOL filtering not working correctly on the installed page; that has now been fixed too.

The main user-facing changes include a text filter now available directly in the 'installed' section of Bazaar's interface. This should help users quickly pinpoint the applications they're looking for. And by default, apps flagged as end-of-life (EOL) won't show up on your home screen anymore; it keeps things cleaner.

For developers working with Bazaar or its integrations, there are a few config-related tweaks worth noting. You can now specify optional translation mappings directly in the YAML configurations if needed, which helps manage localization details more efficiently within the apps themselves.

Several community members contributed updates, including improvements to Turkish translations and significant rework of safety mechanisms, like the implementation of a 'trash' behavior for user data during deletion.

Beyond these specific contributions, there's been general progress across many areas. Numerous typo fixes have landed in translations, including Greek and Portuguese, reflecting ongoing efforts to ensure everything reads smoothly globally. Small UI adjustments, such as removing shadows from release lists when no versions are listed, help smoothen the edges. The screenshot carousel on the app details page was also given a proper overhaul; it now displays more shots, is fixed to maintain focus during interaction, and feels much smoother.

The core experience has seen its share of polish as well. The app size information presentation got a refresh, and the search bar styling changed slightly with rounded corners for the installed apps view. Other bits, like the license dialog, have been updated; problematic licenses without direct web links are now hidden there by default, preventing potential confusion or errors elsewhere.

Finally, Bazaar get some practical new features:

  • A dedicated 'No Results' page appears when you're searching for apps on the main site.
  • There's a clearer way to open app details in a separate window (a proper desktop action).
  • And for usability, the preferences menu got trimmed down slightly so it doesn't feel too wide or cramped.
