Bazaar 0.7.0 released
A significant update has been released for Bazaar, the app store for Flatpak. Version 0.7.0 brings a multitude of improvements and fixes that enhance the overall user experience.
First off, you now have support for Flathub accounts integrated directly into Bazaar. This means you can manage your bookmarks more efficiently. The familiar star rating has been replaced by a simple bookmark feature, which makes it easier to mark apps you like. There's also a new filter option called "Only Show Verified," giving users extra control over what they see, and most of the big categories now have their own dedicated page instead of just being listed alongside smaller ones.
On the app display side, things look cleaner thanks to a refresh for the tile layouts themselves. They're updated with a new visual style, but importantly there's also an improved indicator showing if an app is installed. You can even use three different flags now, probably added for personal notes or ratings separate from the official bookmark, adding more ways to interact with each listing.
Getting back to functionality, a bug in how Bazaar handled some GNOME-specific searches has been fixed. Now, when you search with the integrated GNOME provider, it will take you to an app's page instead of just showing hits from the general search index, which might not be as relevant for finding specific apps.
Another subtle but helpful change is how Bazaar handles flatpakref URIs. You can actually open these references directly in the browser even when the associated application isn't running on your system anymore. That's a nice touch for managing and referencing installations remotely or across machines.
There were also some backend issues being addressed, like apps that incorrectly showed up as using "Special License" despite not having proprietary code. The focus was primarily on improving the accuracy of categorization. Additionally, Bazaar has resolved the graph visualization issues that previously arose when using it on a touchscreen device.
