Bazaar 0.5.9 released
Adam Masciola has announced Bazaar 0.5.9, bringing various fixes and improvements to the GNOME app store for FlatPaks. Key changes include adding an "On the go" section specifically for mobile users alongside a dedicated mobile category.
Significant technical progress is focused on performance, with substantial work done to decrease reported memory usage greatly. The user experience (UX) has also received considerable attention through several reworks: Flathub's home page and its categories have been revamped, app menu navigation options were reordered and grouped, buttons in the row layout are now separated, and the screenshot dialog was completely changed to function as a page.
Translations for multiple languages, including Polish, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Dutch, have been updated or improved. Other enhancements involve improving the mobile category's appearance, updating its icon, and changing how categories are presented overall. The preferences dialog also saw wording improvements.
Bug fixes addressed several interface quirks: there was a fix for the task split view not collapsing properly at small widths, stretched README images were corrected, some buttons on Flathub were moved to rows for better layout, and tooltips in the Pride option now refer to "Colors" instead of the confusing "Flag." Some long descriptions are truncated more smoothly with a fade effect.
The development community also saw contributions, such as adding KOFI links for donations directly into FUNDING.yml and creating an issue template to make bug reporting easier. Plus, minor search fixes were implemented.
