Bazaar, a new app store to simplify the discovery and installation process of FlatHub packages

Bazaar, an innovative app store tailored to enhance the discovery and installation of FlatHub packages, has been updated to version 0.4.4.

Bazaar's robust architecture allows for seamless navigation and smooth performance, thanks to its highly multi-threaded design. This user-friendly interface enables users to efficiently queue multiple downloads while browsing Flathub's latest releases, allowing their applications to install in the background. Furthermore, Bazaar's decoupled UI ensures that backend operations do not interfere with the user experience, resulting in an efficient and streamlined process.

As a service-based application, Bazaar maintains its state even when all windows are closed. This feature provides users with uninterrupted access to their installed packages and applications, ensuring a consistent and convenient experience. Additionally, Bazaar implements the D-Bus interface for the GNOME Shell search provider, allowing users to conveniently search for and install apps directly in the GNOME Shell.

Bazaar also extends its benefits to KDE Plasma desktop users through a KRunner plugin, enabling them to enjoy the app store's features on their preferred desktop environment. Moreover, distributors can configure Bazaar's curated tab to provide a localized experience tailored to specific regions or communities. This feature allows users to discover and install packages that are relevant to their geographical location, promoting cultural diversity within the GNOME ecosystem.

Key Features of Bazaar:

  1. Multi-threaded architecture: Ensures seamless navigation and smooth performance.
  2. Decoupled UI: Prevents backend operations from interfering with the user experience.
  3. Service-based application: Maintains its state even when all windows are closed.
