4MLinux 51.0 BETA released

The 4MLinux team has just released beta version 51.0 BETA for wider testing.  This interim build keeps all the essential functions of the main release but updates more software packages than usual now. While the core features remain consistent, this early access snapshot incorporates numerous updates and improvements.

According to their roadmap, significant developments are imminent. Currently, they are focusing on resolving issues in version 51.0 BETA.

Once they achieve the stability target, they will proceed to prepare for a full release, likely by March. But the longer path follows: after this point, when version 51 becomes the mature "old" stable track, support will start to slow down naturally as development progresses elsewhere.

The planned end-of-life date for that older branch from previous releases is set much further ahead, though, scheduled right now around November 2026. That's still plenty of time before security updates finally stop completely.

Putting out betas early like this helps the developers spot issues quickly and learn what works best with real-world use cases. This approach ensures accountability, ultimately leading to a final product that meets the needs of all users.
