Ubuntu Linux 24.04 LTS, also known as Noble Numbat, is now available for download. With Ubuntu Desktop LTS, the Subiquity installer makes its debut, bringing with it a redesigned user interface, simplified installation, experimental support for ZFS and full disk encryption based on TPM, and the ability to import configuration settings during installation. The default networking configuration has been changed to Netplan, and low-latency capabilities are now supported by the Linux 6.8 kernel. Rust 1.75 and a simplified Rust toolchain snap framework are also available on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, in addition to.NET 8 and OpenJDK 21 and 17 for full lifecycle.
