openSUSE 10.3 Alpha7 has been released:

Alpha7 is ready, after 5 rebuilds we're happy to say it looks good enough for the public.

Important Changes Since Alpha6
==============================

* Linux 2.6.22.1
* gcc 4.2.1
* libzypp 3.12.1
* the package set of the CDs are heavily reshuffled and with it the patterns
also affecting the DVD

After Alpha6 was more about testing the first integration of libzypp, Alpha7 is already 10 steps further in regards to libzypp. But we'd like to have your feedback on the refresh policy of yast/zypper. See Duncan's explanation about the problem in the opensuse-factory archive: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2007-07/msg00169.html

http://en.opensuse.org/Factory/News ;.

openSUSE 10.3 Alpha6 has been released:

Important Changes Since Alpha5
==============================

* Linux 2.6.22
* libzypp 3.11.8
* gcc 4.2
* Continued splitting of packages to reduce size
* Introduction of x86_64 CDs for both KDE and GNOME

This is a first alpha release containing the new refactored libzypp software management library. The goal was to deliver a working version for this alpha, so expect rough edges, unusal slowdown and behavior, for example YaST integration is really alpha quality. All bug reports are very welcome.

openSUSE 10.3 Alpha5 has been released:

I'm glad to announce openSUSE 10.3 Alpha5.

Important Changes Since Alpha4
==============================

The following are some highlights of Alpha5 compared to Alpha4:

* Linux 2.6.22 rc4
* Reduced size and cleaned up dependencies of some packages
* glibc 2.6
* Emacs 22.1
* OpenOffice.Org 2.2.1 rc3
* Lots of package renames and splits to create smaller systems and allow a one CD installation.
* Two one CD installation media: A GNOME CD and a KDE CD. Both contain a small desktop. Please review the media and tell us changes. This is our very first version - I would call it pre-Alpha ;-)
* If openSUSE is installed from CDs, user is offered to bring up network connection in order to be able to install a remote add-on product together with openSUSE.
