The first release candidate for Linux kernel 6.9 has been announced by Linus Torvalds. The majority of the changes that have been made are to the header files for AMD GPUs. However, the core updates are significant, including a rewrite of the timer subsystem to improve performance and a new workqueue subsystem for BH workqueue support. Both of these updates enhance the functionality of the system.
