Both Daniel Stone and Ralf Nolden have released backports of XFree 4.3.0 for Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (Woody)

Add the following in your /etc/apt/sources.list:

# XFree86 4.3.0 backport for Woody by Daniel Stone
deb http://people.debian.org/~mmagallo/packages/xfree86/$(ARCH)/ ./

or

# XFree86 4.3.0 backport (KDE 3.1) for Woody by Ralf Nolden
deb http://devel-home.kde.org/~nolden/X11/ ./

Ralf Nolden's backport is primary for KDE 3.1 users and includes also fontconfig.
