AlmaLinux OS Kitten 10 is now available for Raspberry Pi

The latest updates on Raspberry Pi include the availability of AlmaLinux OS Kitten 10, which offers both console and GNOME images, but excludes the MBR version for development. The Raspberry Pi 3+ will not receive support for AlmaLinux OS 10 or AlmaLinux OS Kitten 10. All Raspberry Pi images have been refreshed to include the most recent packages as of the end of March 2025. A new package, rpi-eeprom, has been released on AlmaLinux, enabling users to modify the boot order exclusively through AlmaLinux. A graphics issue has been identified on the Raspberry Pi 5, first noted on the 16GB RAM model, but associated with Pi 5 revision 1.1 (also referred to as D0 stepping). The development team is currently examining the issue and will persist in their efforts to find a resolution.

AlmaLinux 9.6 Beta released

AlmaLinux OS Foundation has announced the release of AlmaLinux 9.6 Beta "Sage Margay" for all supported architectures, which include Intel/AMD (x86_64), ARM64 (aarch64), IBM PowerPC (ppc64le), and IBM Z (s390x). The beta release features enhancements in performance, development tools, and security measures. The update encompasses revised module streams, enhanced compiler versions, system debugging and performance monitoring enhancements, networking advancements, security updates, improvements in containerization and virtualization, as well as expanded virtualization capabilities. Feedback and input play a vital role in ensuring successful production releases.

ELevate Testing now ready for AlmaLinux 10

The ELevate Project has announced updates for AlmaLinux 10. The project consists of three phases: the introduction of new upgrade paths, features, bug fixes, and versions of leapp-repository and leapp-data in ELevate NG; testing these enhancements with the community; and conducting general testing to collect further data and features. The updates are anticipated to be made available to Stable following the general release of AlmaLinux OS 10 Stable.

The project has implemented an upgrade path to AlmaLinux Kitten 10 and has updated the leapp-repository to upstream version 0.22.0, incorporating the latest fixes and support for EL 10. The community is invited to assist in testing these new upgrade paths and to report any bugs to the ELevate leapp repository.
