/home partition mysteriously filling up

I have a strange problem. Recently, I started getting strange errors saying that things could not be saved in my home directory, and quickly checked with df. . Here is what I get: # df Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hdc1 5.

linux partitioning & sizing questions (Mandrake 10.1)

I've entered this for help from MandrakeExpert, but seeing as I'm only trying the free service, I've no idea if/when anyone will see it. I've picked up a fair bit of info from scouring this forum, so asking for a little help seems like a good idea Setup: Athlon XP-M 2500+, 1GB RAM.

Suse Enterprise Server 9,

I just got an old 8 way xeon Proliant (Compaq 8500) server (8 xeons 550 Mhz) 4Gb ram, today. . I was drooling. . . . I got out 4 CD set of Suse enterprise server 9. 0 eval kit, in mail in October, says will support up to 128 procs x86, tech info specs.

Downloading

I am completely baffled when it comes to downloading. I have recently installed Mandrake. I downloaded Firefox. I can easily locate the downloaded file - Firefox-installer. What do I do now? How do I get the file to install? I previously tried Fedora, but finally gave up because I could never figure out how to down ...

Hi there, I am looking around since last week to find a RAID controller for my Linux machine. I've found quite a few available that (seem to)support Linux but from my experience I am a bit cautious on what it is claimed.

xine problems

i have a problem in installing xine-ui. when i execute the. /configure, it will give me an error about the libpng: configure:error:***:libpng is needed(PNG linrary not found) - try to use with-png-prefix option *** i tried to search libpng and this is what i get /usr/share/doc/libpng-1.

Printer NIGHTMARE!

Yes guys, I'm still having trouble getting my printer to print. I am back to FC3 as my distro. I used the custom install option and installed everything. I have gone to to try to use that information to get the printer working, and that hasn't worked.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me pleeeeeease? I bought suse 9. 1 because the download takes too long, but the disk doesn't come with an installer x) just a load of files that i can't open. Any idea how to install or get an installer? Regards, sammyuk.

Commands not working

Hey people I've got a strange problem with Unix commands. Yesterday I configured my firewall using iptables. Today I wanted to modify it a bit so I log in as root and type iptables -L to check the rules but I get this error: bash: iptables: command not found No other iptables commands work either.

mandrakelinux 10.1 iso burn error

I have tried to burn the downloaded Mandrakelinux 10. 1 Official Images. I have already destroied almost ten CDs while trying to burn CD1, CD2 and CD3. I got the following errors: Could not perform End-Track and Burn process failed at 24x or Could not perform fixation.
