unable to shutdown with Fedora Core 3

I just installed FC3 yesterday and i discovered that i'm unable to shutdown. Whenever i attempt to shutdown, i get this error msg psmouse. c : bad data from KBC - timeout Btw, I faced this problem as well when i upgraded to a 2.

Can two distros share the same swap partition?

Is that possible? I plan to only boot into one distro at a time but what if one is Rieser and the other Ext3? I am going to resize the Suse partition with the Mepis live disk to make room for a Mepis hdd install.

I'm trying to install Mandrake Linux 10. 1 on our other computer - Dell WebPC (and it's own USB keyboard/mous) with a formatted hard drive. I press enter on my keyboard when the main boot screen appears and it loads the program into memory.

unable to load openGL apps and segmentation faults in FC3

After much trouble i finally managed to get the nvidia drivers running on my system. Before i could even celebrate, i discovered after a reboot that i could not load any openGL app. Not even the screensavers.

Fedora installation problems

hi i'm new to linux, i just download fedora iso image. i succesfully intall it on one of my computers, but on one of my other computers have to use text installation since it keeps hanging the screen turns grey with a target.

Mandrake 10.1 install woes

I am trying to install mandrake 10. 1 on my dell 5150 laptop. I get through the install with 3 cds and it tells me that I'm done and to reboot into linux. However, when it reboots it goes through the bios check and determines things, but when it gets to the hard drive it stops.

Ok. . . as a newbie trying different flavors i am on my second one. went from FC3 to Suse9. 2. problem is two fold, while installing nessus on fc3 = no problem, on S9. 2 i get this message: the script needs uudecode (1) to run? Second: when i try to configure my wireless card which S9.

Newbie trying to install Linux...

I am new to Linux, I am trying to install Suse 9. 1 on a PIII 667Mhz. I get the install menu when booting from cd but when i click the install button it loads the kernel and reboots. I have removed all extra hardware from the computer but it still reboots.

I downloaded the Fedora's ISO images but it can't boot. My PC is configured to boot from CD and then from the HD, Do I need some floppy disk in order to boot and intall it?? Thanks =).

problems with mandrak

I cannot start mandrake 10. 0 after I installed it. the XFdrake does not have my monitor and my graphics card is onboard. . . so I don;t know what it is. It's a biostar board. What am I supposed to do ?.

First have a linux bootable floopy(cause mine does not boot in the cdrom). Pop in the first mandrake cd. Boot on the floppy; press F1 for more options(I did mine in the expert mode)Customize the partition.

Automatic USB dection for digital camera/external HD?

How do I make my digital camera to be automatically loaded, detected, or a program to open it up when I plug into a USB plug in my computer? I'm using Knoppix 3. 7 and I remember that with Mandrake and fedora core 3 it would be automatic detected and bring a proman to donwload my pics.

too busy cpu

Hey, I'm not sure if I should post this here but. . Im using an AOpen laptop (1557) and linux fedora core 3. . My problem is that the CPU is 100% in use all the time, so the fan is going nonstop. I am not doing jack sh** while this is going on.
