I just installed Suse 9. 1 Professional on this laptop, only to discover there is a huge 2 inch black margin around the desktop image. I have found out there is no fix for this, and the makers of the screen will not support Linux.

i forgot my root password on red hat 9 what should i do. how can i recover it without reinstalling redhat? before, once i get this probelm i just reinstalled the OS and all my files are gone. . . and also how can i do it on fedora core 2??? tnx a lot.

How do i add support for GeForce 4 MX440 in Debian Woody? When i try to compile NVIDIA drivers, the compiler says the drivers were not compiled with the compiler that came with Debian ? Thanks, Tomy P.

Hey! I have recently gotten Fedora Redhat core 2 on my computer. Everythings works fine, except my printer. A canon s200. Since there's only a driver for Windows and mac with the printer, I ask you how to find and install the driver.

New to Linux, wanting PVR and games

I want a machine I can use for a PVR and doing the odd bit of website up etc. I have never used linux before, but am told it will be a system that does not crash, as opposed to 98SE which I run now. However, I am keen to be able to run certain games which will require Windows - Age of Empires for example.

K3B Problem

I have a file I downloaded and it is in bin and cue format. I can not get K3B to burn it no matter what I do. The cue file properties say that it is a CDRWIN Cue sheet and the bin is unrecognized. I can load the cue sheet but it gives an error of Seems not to be a usable image Can anyone help with this?.

If I click on a link in instant messaging or something, it opens up mozilla as my default browser, where I would prefer it to open firefox instead. Also when you click on an email link in a browser it says error mailto is not a registered protocal.

suppose i enter gnome. I have to do this with a non -root account. After getting in how do i switch to root sa as i can stay there definitely. Because if i try su after a few commnands i get back to my previous user.
