Hi, I have just installed Fedora Core 1 on to a PC to be used as a firewall / router. All went well, hardware ok, install complete, system reboot. It's now asking me for a host login and password. . .

I have the live eval CD of SuSE Linux 8. 1 that came with a magazine. I made the boot disk, and the modules disks, configuration goes OK, except for stepping over printer detection because the PC freezes.

Fedora Partition problem

Hello, trying to install Fedora on my system. I have a Serial Hard drive. I have a windows partition. During the automatic partion, I get an error saying it cannot make it the primary partition. I try to automaically partition the drive and get the same thing.

Allright, I've installed linux mandrake 9. 2 on my computer. Everything seems fine,though, when I try to boot it up I have a kernal panic error. I tried getting out all the dust in out of the internal fan and restting the memory, but that doesn't work.

ok. . i just wanted to upgrade my version of gaim because msn doesn't work on there anymore. i tried to install but ended up finding out that gtk2 was needed. so i find this webpage and follow instructions.

help with boot problem

Hi, I'm a total linux noobie and I've just tried to install redhat v9 on my system, the install seems fine but the system won't boot up. The startup process gets as far as 'INIT: version 2. 84 booting' and then stops.

i want to add a kernel module on my kernel but there is linux/kernel. h file not found problem is a big problem give me salution or from where i can reinstall hole kernel librery i install all kernel packeg and librery form intallation CD give me salution for solving this problem.

create swap after install

A friend of mine just installed Morphix-Gnome on his pc and he didn't create a swap. This wouldn't be a problem since he's running 512 ram, but there's a program he needs that will not install without a swap.

Suse 9.0 and the mouse

I have a Satallite 5105-s607 and put Suse 9 professional on it. An excellent distribution that amazingly everything seems to work. however I'm having a serious problem. Whenever xwindows resets my mouse vanishes.

setting domain name

I am running RH9 and am very new. I am trying to set the domain name on the machine so that it has the same domain name for the interface eth1. I know I can just type domainname <name> when it starts up but how would I set the domain name and the hostname everytime it boots up.

This is for noobees. If your computing experience is mostly switch on,click and go, this may help especially if you don't know how to find IRQs I/O ranges driver types,etc. If you want to try linux but don't know where to start, I've tried a few distros in the last couple weeks.

Hi, I really do need some help, I want to wipe mandrake off my system , but just won't go away. I took me centuries before I could install the great mandrake,but now it has only been a big pain in my neck.
