Seems to work fine with Fedora Core 3 test 3, yes latest release (and tested with Knoppix LiveCD aswell) on one computer but on my notebook it doesn't. Epox 8K9A7I is the motherboard on the working computer.

Monitor conifguration problems

I am going through the pain of my first Linux install. I am trying to install Mandrake 10. 1 on my old Dell Optiplex, in conjunction with 2 even older monitors. The install has worked so far in that I can boot to a text prompt.

as i have decided to build a new system with amd processor i've found some problems on it. . . what is the difference between AMD ATHLON XP and AMD SEMPRON ? what should i buy amd athlon xp 2200+ or amd athlon sempron 2200+ ? mother board: asus A7V8X-X via KT400 chipset.

HELP! What media player for various video types?

Here is my problem. I want to get away from Microslop Corporaid for good but I have some various video file types of various ages that need certain codecs, etc. I am running 2K sp2 (this is the last M$ product I will ever use) and testing diff flavours of Linux on a seperate partition.

Let me explain. . . it is a whole lot of 'DOHs' (screwups and problems), that is the real reason for the pluralization claims the new CEO of Microslop. It is rumoured that Homer fell in love with windohs when a hacker popped open his cd tray, which he immediately used for a beer holder.

Hey guys. It's been a while. I have a question that I was hoping you could answer for me. My machine no longer shuts off from windows or linux. It just reboots. I have made no hardware changes so I don't think that I would have knocked any cables loose but I have verified the internals as well.

I am running Fedora Core 2, 2. 6. 8, and can't get this dang thing to work. I have search forums and googled and found numerous replies, basically you need alsa vs. 1. 0. 6. synaptic and yum don't have everything for it.

Fedora C2 cdrecord

Hi !! I am trying to do a backup to a Samsung cd R/W. On RH9 cdrecord - dev 0,0,0 etc worked fine. Using cdrecord -scanbus tells me that the Samsung is scsibus0 0,1,0 - but the syntax seems to upset the Fedora cdrecord command and it says it can't find a driver.
