Format partition with mandrake

hey im not liking mandrake and i would like to go on to REDHAT8. I have got the cds for it, but how do erase the partition with mandrake on it. I am dual booting with win98 and mandrake. If someone could help me erase that partition or just format it so i can install redhat to that partition.

im trying to install linux redhat 8. 0 for the first time, i have created a boot disk as instructed , i booted the machine and started the install when it asks for the images for the installation from the cdrom or the hd i choose the cdrom and it says it can not find any images.

Linux newbie needs help with Nvidia card - PLEASE help

Hello, I am a Linux newbie so go easy on me. . . . I am running a dual-boot Win 2000 pro and SuSE 8. 1 pro systesm. Every thing seems to be working fine with the exception of the video display. I downloaded and installed what I believe to be the correct video drivers for my Nvidia GeForce video card.

Asus A7N8x USB and Redhat 8

I might be stupid but I can't get USB to work on this motherboard, doesn't even see my mouse. I have installed the latest drivers from Nvidias web site but still no USB. Has anyone got this working ok? Thanks Stewart.

Creative Muvo (SuSE 8.1): No SCSI-Device assigned ??

Hi, I have a Creative (Nomad) Muvo64 mp3-player / usb-memory-stick. Mounting it under SuSE 8. 0 worked easily, /var/log/messages said something like /dev/sda1 assigned, when I plugged in the device and mounting was possible.

Which CDRW should I buy?

Hello, I want to buy an external CDRW for my box (intel PIII, 700MHz,810 chipset) running RHL7. 0 There is no free USB port as the only one available is occupied by HP845c inkjet. The inflow of models is much too fast for cdrecord to update their list.

How to boot into linux now?

I installed XP, and then Linux in the same HD (I only have 1), but, of course, different partitions. Using LILO everything worked fine for some time. Then i had some trouble with XP and had to reinstall it.

Help! NOT a newbie: A7N8X-Deluxe - 3COM LAN NIC not working

I'm running the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe with Debian 3. 0 (Woody), and a custom compiled kernel (version 2. 4. 18). The CD that comes with the mobo has support for the 3COM NIC for linux, or so it claims; both the CD and the website claim that the newest and correct driver is 3C90x-102.

Problem with LG CD-RW reading certain cds

my CD-RW is a LG GCC-4320B. My problem is it reads CD-Rs that were burned in unix or linux OSes perfectly fine, but if a CD was burned with Windows using say Adaptec or whatever, and the CD is set so that it is readable to all computers, then i get this problem: My CD-RW sometimes reads the file structure, (i.

Highpoint raid not working with mandrake 9.0

Help, newbe here. got mandrake 9. 0, and for some reason its not deticting my raid card, yet on the first stage instal, it names my hard disk. the raid card is a highpoint hpt372 udma ata133 raid controller.
