Crossover Office 4.0 has been released. Here the press release:

CodeWeavers, Inc., the leading Windows-to-Linux software developer, today announced the release of CrossOver Office 4.0, the latest upgrade to the world's leading and most reliable Windows-to-Linux application solution. CrossOver Office 4.0 includes new support for iTunes®, Apple's exciting digital jukebox and download store program, as well as for Adobe Framemaker® and Oracle JInitiator®.

Since its initial release in 2002, CrossOver Office has significantly impacted the growth and practicality of the Linux operating system among desktop computer users. CrossOver Office enables many leading Windows applications including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and Visio; Intuit Quicken; Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash; and Apple QuickTime to operate natively under Linux with no secondary emulator needed.

With new iTunes support, CrossOver Office 4.0 users can download and organize songs from the iTunes Music Store. Soon they will also be able to plug their iPod into their Linux PC for music transfers and other jukebox-related tasks.

"Version 4.0 addresses the strong desire of our loyal users for iTunes support," said Jeremy White, CEO of CodeWeavers. "iTunes has been our number one, most requested application. We remain confident that by the end of 2005, the majority of Windows applications will be supported by CrossOver Office. Until then, we're pleased to be able to bring iTunes to Linux users through Version 4.0."

CrossOver Office Version 4.0 with iTunes support is now available in two full-release versions: CrossOver Office 4.0 Standard, the home user edition of the product; and CrossOver Office 4.0 Professional, the multi-license edition for business or educational use. All CrossOver Office users receive six months of free upgrades and technical support. CrossOver Office Professional users receive twelve months of free upgrades and Level Two support from date of purchase.

New Applications Supported

iTunes, which recently celebrated its 100 millionth music download, allows users to import music in AAC, MP3 or Apple Lossless formats and convert unprotected WMAs to MP3. Users can sync with their iPod, burn CDs, and complete other routine digital jukebox tasks; they can also use Apple's AirPort Express to wirelessly stream music from their computer to a stereo located in any room in their home. Apple's hugely popular iTunes Music Store, accessible from iTunes, currently contains more than 700,000 tracks and 450 independent labels with 30-second previews.

Adobe Framemaker (www.adobe.com) is an enterprise-class authoring and publishing solution that combines the simplicity of word processing with the power of XML. Framemaker support under CrossOver will allow Linux users to develop professional-looking documents for both print and the web.

Oracle JInitiator is a Web-based tool for Java-enabled Windows browsers allowing developers and end-users to access Oracle Application Forms. JInitiator is a key enabling technology for deploying Oracle databases via the Web.
