While looking around for something else, I found this thread on how to make Firefox even faster than it already is! I tired it, and indeed it does work!

hey i went to the site and it said you have to pay just thought id push one i found from amdedge
1. Type "about :config" in the adress field.
2. Set the value of network.http.pipelining to "true".
3. Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100".
4. Set the value of network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true"
5. Set the value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay to "0"
Yep, Tested it myself. Increases Mozilla Firefox speed and MAY also work for Mozilla.

no problem i know i have saw a couple more ill look for them im just cheap and dont like to pay for subscriptions maybe i was looking wrong but i have noticed a great speed improvement
on this line
Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100".
i read the more you push the faster it gets so i pushed mine to 250 works great
and heres some more i skimmed through em and they look helpful

I just changed mine up from 32 to 250. Man what a difference! It IS a lot faster. This is now the fastest browser I've ever used, except for links-graphic which puts them all to shame as far as speed goes.

Hi,
i am using firefox 0.9.3, and i can't find most of these settings in my "about :config". these are the options that i can't find.
network.http.pipelining.firstrequest
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
nglayout.ititialpaint.delay
Can someone please tell me what is wrong.
thanks.

if you cannot find them, right click on the about :config page and add them by typing them in, i couldnt find the initialpaint one and i typed it in, and it works,
good luck

I'm very new to Linux and this forum is a great help! I just tried the modification to Firefox and it's fantastic! I also set the maxrequests value to 250 and see no problem. Firefox is WAY faster!!
Thanks again!

There is a new Firefox extension, called Tweak Network Settings 1.0, which will allow you to tweak some of these settings right from the Tool Menu. This may help some people improve the speed of Firefox quite easily. Just check the newest Firefox extensions.
