A press release from Win4Lin:

Jim Provan is Appointed VP

AUSTIN, TX – Win4Lin, a leading supplier of enterprise virtualization solutions on Linux, announced today the appointment of James Provan as VP of Customer Engineering. In this role, Provan will direct all customer-facing engineering projects.

Provan is an industry veteran with 34 years experience. Most recently Jim Provan was founder and COO of ThinDesktop, Inc. Provan has spent a majority of his career in telecommunications. He worked on some of the very first ATM networks in the world and specialized in tuning mainframes specifically for ATM networks. Jim Provan spent 8 years as the Manager of Tech Support for Tellabs, Inc. Later, Provan founded his own firm, Japha International, Inc. As CEO of Japha, Provan grew this company in 5 years to 300 field engineers and a $20M+ annual gross revenue after designing a custom cabling system for Tellabs' flagship digital cross-connect products. He has served as Director of Enterprise Applications Integration with a large Chicago-based consulting firm and as a consultant to the US Dept of the Treasury and State of Michigan Dept of Revenue.

“Jim, with his vast experience in high performance and distributed computing environments, will be an invaluable addition to our team as we redefine what is possible in the exciting world of data center virtualization,” said Jim Curtin, CEO, Win4Lin. “We are very fortunate to have him on board."

Win4Lin products are aimed at enabling users of all sizes – from individuals and small and medium organizations to large enterprises - to more easily embrace the cost, reliability and security advantages of an end-to-end Linux infrastructure, without having to give up, port or re-write viable legacy Windows applications. Win4Lin provides the most compelling solution for bridging the compatibility gap between Windows and Linux.

Win4Lin Product Family

Products in the Win4Lin family include Win4Lin Pro™, Win4Lin 9X™, Win4Lin Terminal Server™ and Win4Lin™ Home. Win4Lin Pro provides support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Linux. Win4Lin 9X (formerly Win4Lin 5) provides migration support for enterprise users moving from Windows to Linux by allowing the execution of applications that cannot be ported to Linux (i.e. missing source code, too expensive) with full support for networked environments. Win4Lin Home is a lightweight version of Win4Lin 9X that provides the standalone or home user with the ability to run needed Windows applications (like Quicken® and TurboTax®) on Linux. Win4Lin Terminal Server is the company’s enterprise solution for delivering Windows applications on thin clients via a Linux server.

About Win4Lin

Win4Lin is a leader in technology for creating virtualization solutions on Linux. With Win4Lin Virtual Computing Environment (VCE), the company supplies Fortune 500 enterprises, educational institutions and desktop users with solutions that allow them to run the Windows operating system and Windows applications on Linux in true Windows sessions.
