USN-288-4: dovecot regression fix

Posted by Bob on: 06/14/2006 10:12 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

A new dovecot regression fix update is available for Ubuntu Linux. Here the announcement:

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-288-4 June 13, 2006
dovecot regression
https://launchpad.net/bugs/49601
==========================
==========================
=========

A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases:

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS

This advisory also applies to the corresponding versions of
Kubuntu, Edubuntu, and Xubuntu.

The problem can be corrected by upgrading your system to the
following package versions:

Ubuntu 6.06 LTS:
dovecot-common 1.0.beta3-3ubuntu5.2
dovecot-imapd 1.0.beta3-3ubuntu5.2

In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to effect the
necessary changes.

Details follow:

USN-288-3 fixed a vulnerability in dovecot. Unfortunately the Ubuntu
6.06 update had a regression which caused authentication using a MySQL
database to not work any more. This update fixes this again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
