USN-194-2: texinfo regression fix

Posted by Bob on: 01/09/2006 03:52 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

A new texinfo regression fix update is available for Ubuntu Linux. Here the announcement:

Ubuntu Security Notice USN-194-2 January 09, 2006
texinfo regression bug fix
===========================================================

A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases:

Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary Hedgehog)
Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger)

The following packages are affected:

texinfo

The problem can be corrected by upgrading the affected package to
version 4.7-2.2ubuntu1.2 (for Ubuntu 5.04) or 4.7-2.2ubuntu2.1 (for
Ubuntu 5.10). In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to
effect the necessary changes.

Details follow:

USN-194-1 fixed a vulnerability in the 'texindex' program.
Unfortunately this update introduced a regression that caused the
program to abort when cleaning up temporary files (which are used with
extraordinarily large input files). The updated packages fix this.
