Ubuntu Developer Summit

Posted by Philipp Esselbach on: 04/28/2006 07:54 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

An announcement from Canonical:

Canonical is proud to announce that the next Ubuntu Developer Summit will take place from 18 - 24 June outside Paris, France.

The primary focus of this event will be for the distro team and others to gather together to concentrate on spec writing and technical planning for Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft). The format of the conference will be similar to Montreal UBZ [1], but we are requesting the attendees to prepare as many specs beforehand as possible. This will enable us to spend more time discussing, editing and approving specs, and less time will be wasted on drafting.

The focus of this event is all on Ubuntu. Mark has already out out the call for Edgy specs [2]; and having well thought out and pre-prepared inputs and proposals will help the Summit to run more smoothly and to maximise the time available.

Anyone who has attended a Canonical event before can attest to the fact that it is an intense, productive and fun experience for everyone.

Here are the things you need to know:

--gt; What: Ubuntu Developer Summit
--gt; Where: Charles de Gaulle, Paris, France
--gt; When: Monday 18th to Friday 23rd June 2006
--gt; Who: The Ubuntu Distro Members and Sponsored Guests

This event will not be as big as some of the other events in the past, as the focus is more on doing the Edgy planning and pushing out specs, rather than on public Ubuntu Love Sharing. However as with previous conferences, there is a limited pool available for sponsorship.

Anyone is welcome to apply for sponsorship although we will give preference to people who are active, visible, and known in the community and who are from the general geographical area.

More information on sponsorship linked from the conference page [3]. All requests for sponsorship [4] must be made no later than 12:00UTC May 5th 2006.

Any specific questions not answered on that page can be directed to info@canonical.com or janew@canonical.com

Regards,
JaneW
