SLAX 5.1.8rc1 has been released
SLAX is fast and beautiful Linux operating system which fits on small (3.14") CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.
Change log:
- probeusb parameter now sleeps 5 seconds to wait for USB devices
- probeusb accepts value in seconds, like probeusb=10 (wait 10 seconds)
- added changes=slaxsave.dat boot option so slax automatically saves changes
to a file called slaxsave.dat, if it exists in any partition's root
You may overide this default by your own changes=...
- added slaxsave.zip to SLAX CD. This archive contains pre-built
loop filesystems (size 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1GB). Just unpack your
desired file to the root of some partition and SLAX will save changes to it.
(doesn't work on NTFS yet as SLAX mounts NTFS readonly yet)
- added NTFS-3g beta, you can mount your NTFS partitions with 100% writable support!
- dhcpcd now waits 10 seconds for IP. People reported 5 seconds is not enough.
- icons in KDE taskbar: removed ICQ icon (kopete) and added k3b icon
- fixed problem with some missing partitions (usually swaps) in fstab
- popcorn edition - use 1024x768 as default screen resolution
