PC Mag: Linux Spreading to the Desktop

PC Mag has posted an article on Desktop Linux
At this year's LinuxWorld tradeshow, which opened on Wednesday and runs through Friday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, the biggest news has come from vendors announcing Linux products for use in the server room or by developers. Dell is discussing the use of Red Hat's Linux OS in a new line of blade servers. Sun announced that seven products in its line of Sun ONE server and development products are now available for Linux and said that four more would be ported to Linux over the coming year. This is the sort of news you'd expect from LinuxWorld. Linux, an open source version of the old Unix operating system, was originally designed by and for those doing development on the back end-but several vendors at the show are also working to expand the use of Linux on desktop machines.
