A press release from StartCom:

Eilat, Israel, September 6, 2004 - At the beginning of September, StartCom Ltd. released a brand new Linux Operating System, specially design for software developers. In addition to that, the previously released StartCom Enterprise Linux is now available as an updated version.

- Information about StartCom Linux can be found at our website. Previous Press Releases are published at http://www.startcom.org/index.php?lang=enapp=14.

- StartCom Developer Edition DL-3.0.0 (Pharaoh) incorporates the best of Enterprise Linux, with the addition of the Eclipse IDE. Eclipse provides a fully featured Integrated Development Environment (IDE) based on the open source Eclipse project for application developers. It provides an environment for developers to efficiently create a variety of applications in a rapidly growing set of languages, including support for C/C++ and Java application development.
Eclipse supports a wide range of operating systems beyond Linux, including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME and Sun Solaris 8. This simplifies migration of developer skills and applications from these platforms to StartCom Enterprise or Developer Linux.
Additionally StartCom Developer Edition includes other advanced features, such as the Tomcat Java™ Servlet Server and JBoss Application Server. Both servers can also be installed on the StartCom Enterprise Linux in order to use it in a production server environment.

- StartCom Enterprise Linux AS-3.0.1 (Maccaabee) includes now Global File System (GFS) support and cluster capabilities. Derived mainly from RedHat AS source codes, the current StartCom Enterprise Linux version includes all updates, security and other enhancements. It comes perconfigured with built-in automatic update mechanism, similar to Windows Update or RedHat Network. More information about StartCom's products are available at the Products page.
