Mad Penguin takes a look at Fedora Core 5

I usually like to wait for a Linux distribution to officially be released before I review it, but there comes a time in every mans life when he needs to live on the edge and this is my time. I am... ahem... living on the edge. I'm not sure how many of you recall, but last year I did a short review of Fedora Core 4 right before it's release (FC4 Test 2 if I recall correctly) to give everyone a rundown of what to expect in the eagerly anticipated release. I thought it would be interesting to see where it was at exactly one release later, so here we are folks. If you don't remember the first article, don't worry about it. That story is totally old news now and I just tend to ramble anyway. So, what do we have to look forward to in Fedora Core 5? Well, I will say this right up front: what I've seen so far is very, very cool. As you will see from the feature list, Fedora Core 5 is boning up to be a distro that is on the cutting edge, so the final release should cause the mirrors to melt for the first week. Let's take a closer look, shall we?
