The Inquirer posted a story that Linus Torvalds puts Linux 3.1-RC5 temporary on Github
Torvalds' decision to upload Linux 3.1 RC5 to Github was due to last week's intrusion into the kernel.org servers. Apparently the main server at kernel.org is not fullly back online, which means that Github has in effect become the source for Linux 3.1 RC5, as Torvalds has yet to upload the kernel to its traditional home.
As part of the release, Torvalds gave instructions about how kernel hackers can check out the git repository. He was also very clear in saying that he will return the code to kernel.org once it fully recovers from the break-in.
