KDar-1.2.0 has been released
The "KDE Disk archiver" (KDar) is a disk-based archiving and backup utility. KDar is built around the "disk archive library" by Denis Corbin, and is analogous to the tape archiver shell command "tar", but is more suited for backups onto disk-based media, such as CD-R, DVD, Jazz, Zip, other hard-drives, etc.
KDar can perform full and differential backups with or without compression. Archives can be split to fit various media types. A filtering mechanism allows you to select which files and directories to backup or restore, and which files to compress.
New features added to KDar-1.2.0 include:
- New configuration dialogs
- creation and restore "profiles" for saving different configurations
- message window can be printed and cleared
- fonts are configurable
- progress bar and current slice and size displayed during creation
- "Open Recent" archives
- ability to cancel current archive operation
- string substitution in archive name (useful for automatic backups using new commandline option)
- Faster and more reliable listing algorithm for the browser
- Splash screen on startup
- Handbook brought up-to-date
